As the days begin their cycle of 75 degrees one day and 43 degrees the next, it’s time for Austinites to start poking their heads from their winter burrows. One of the best places to go for a nice weekend stroll in the sun is the Sunset Valley Farmers’ Market at the Tony Burger Center in Southwest Austin. Austin is lucky to have multiple farmers’ markets, each with its own personality and ambience. At the Sunset Valley market, there are a few factors to consider.

Pros:

- Proximity to great Southwest Austin neighborhoods like Travis Country West and Ridge at Lantana

- Nearly unlimited free parking – 17 acres, to be exact

- It’s easy to get in and out quickly if you’re there for something specific

- Samples everywhere!

- Competition for products isn’t as fierce here, as compared to other markets – one doesn’t always have to be the early bird to get the worm

Possible Cons:

- Fewer vendors compared to other markets

- Fewer options for on-site eating compared to other markets

The market is open year round, rain or shine, from 9am to 1pm in September through April and 8:30am to 12:30pm in May through August. Shopping locally and sustainably is part of the Austin culture, particularly in environmentally-conscious Southwest Austin. If you are looking for a new home somewhere near the market, the Austin real estate agents at Regent Property Group are here to help.
