Travis Country West: YMCA Spanish Programs

YMCA Southwest AustinThe Southwest branch of the Austin YMCA, where visitors can renew, refresh, restore is offering up great programs this Winter, giving families in Travis Country West and other Southwest Austin communities the opportunity to take advantage of unique offerings. Most notably are two classes that help youngsters learn Spanish while they are at the ideal age to do so (and before they start asking for those expensive Rosetta Stone sets).

First, there’s Mi Mundo a Spanish immersion program that helps Preschoolers learn, improve, or maintain Spanish language skills at a time when they are most easily able to absorb a new language. The program will help them learn to use effectively words such as colors, shapes, animals, and body parts. The class runs January 10 through May 24, 2012, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm.

Vamos a jugar uses fun and games to expose children to the Spanish language, with balls, puppets, musical instruments, picture books, and other interactive items that will engage children ages 3 to 6 while they are learning. The class is every Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:30 am.

In addition to these programs, the Southwest YMCA offers a variety of other activities for all ages, including aquatics, exercise classes, family enrichment nights, and tons more. To find out about all of the YMCA’s programs, offerings, and to register for one of their great classes, visit the welcome center or their website. If you happen to be looking for a home in the area, particularly in the Travis Country West subdivision nearby, you’ll want to visit Austin REALTOR® Brian Talley’s welcome center (also known as his website) to find out more about how he can help you find that perfect home for you and your family.
